Brian Brushwood - Bizarre Magic TOUR UPDATES and TALES FROM THE ROAD July 2006

All right, this is pretty freaking awesome:

A few days ago, I was reading this wikipedia entry for magic. It's a good overall history of the art, and actually has its facts right. Under the section "various types of magic performances," I notice they have "shock magic" listed.

"Sweet!" I think. "That's my favorite kind!"

Then I read the entry, and got all bubbly excited:

hock magic is a genre of magic that shocks the audience, hence the name. Sometimes referred to as "geek magic", it takes its roots from circus sideshows, in which "freakish" performances were shown to audiences. Common shock magic or geek magic effects include eating razor blades, needle-through-arm and pen-through-tongue. Magicians known for performing shock magic include Criss Angel, Vincenzo Ravina and Brian Brushwood.

Didja see that!?!? Right there at the end! Next to Criss-Freaking-Angel!! Look up the DEFINITION of shock magic in the encyclopedia, and there's a freaking picture of me in it. THAT RULES!

Super big thanks to whatever anonymous author put me in there... but now that my name's in the book, it sure seems like it should link to an article about me... Any of you wiki-folk out there interested in making an official Brian Brushwood entry on wikipedia? Let me know if something pops up.

OTHER NEWS:

I got a little behind schedule entering emails this semester, so about 900 emails just now got added to the list. For those of you new folk, the last big news was that both me and Mr. Happypants got myspace pages... So far MR. HAPPYPANTS HAS MORE FRIENDS THAN I DO!!!

Seriously, what's that all about?

Finally, you may remember February's tale of how I got stabbed while acting in an independent short film. Well, the film's called "The Right Hand of Kali," and is about to be released and entered in the Austin Film Festival. I'll have updates and a copy for download next letter, along with the tentative fall tour schedule.
